One of the ways a skateboarder expresses his style is in the design he chooses for his deck. The type of board contributes or takes away from the performance. However, the design, like picking your skater shoes, says a lot about the skateboarder. And I love to see how it all comes together, which is why one of my first graphic design projects was to design and sell my own custom Skateboard Decks.
The first abstract design I created was the “Black Diamond Design” in the color blue. Realizing that not everyone loves the color blue, I decided to offer the same design in 7 different colors and called it “The Black Diamond Collection.” This collection was later followed by the “White Frost,” “Black Hole” and “Ascension Collections” shown below. Even though all my collections feature my abstract designs, “The Ascension Collection” offered personalization when the customer added their own custom text positioned in the middle of the design.
Originally, each of my deck collections was available for sale on the Zazzle Marketplace and were then migrated to BoardPusher for greater exposure. Today, however, they are simply a part of my portfolio to display my start in creating and selling designs on various products.
