As a lover of skate shoes, I have often wondered how the colorful, abstract patterns I have created over the years would look on some of the more popular skate shoe brands. Even though each shoe redesign shown below remains a concept design, I have enjoyed creating them and developing my own process to bring these concepts to life.
Using Adobe Photoshop, I have developed my own creative process, which includes the use of the grid, guides and polygonal lasso tool in producing colorful, geometric patterns and textures, as shown below. Using downloaded product photos from each shoe retailer’s website, I position my created abstract pattern to compliment both the shoe shape and individual style. To further enhance my concept design, I use a three-color palette consisting of black, white and an accent color. I leave the accent color to be determined by the consumer, so they too can place their own individual style on the shoe.
Even though each of my creations is just a concept now, I know that if they were made available for purchase, I would certainly own many of them!
